Instagram is a platform where visuals come to life.
I have been on Instagram for a while now and I wanted to share some tips I’ve found from watching different marketing strategies over on this platform.
Let’s talk about how you can get more followers for your brand.
A great way to get more followers on Instagram is to hold contests.
The first thing you need to do is to learn what your audience would be interested in and give that away. For me it is my book, The Relationship Manifesto, coming out later this year:
Once you have the product set in place, now is the time to get more followers by using the rules of the contest.
- Get them to like the post
- Instruct them to follow you if they aren’t already
- Reposting is an option sometimes, but I have noticed some marketers using this option
- Make sure you get your followers to tag 3 people, this brings more visibility to your post
- Use relevant hashtags
Using the relevant hashtags will make good use of the search feature on Instagram because hashtags are used often with this platform and this way, people will see what you have to offer. Remember, its all in your visuals on this platform.
There’s nothing better on Instagram than a 15 second video. While I’m still working on my own video editing skills, there are some people over there, like my buddy Jeff Sieh, that understand the ins and outs of video marketing on Instagram. Check out his latest video over there:

Again, please take notice of the hashtag use that Jeff has used for this particular post. I will say that hashtags are probably the most important feature you can use to get your content out to as many people as possible.
What kind of video can you make?
The best part about this is you don’t have to be the best at shooting video to be a part of this whole scenario. If you have a mobile phone, you can be a video star on Instagram. You only have to determine how to keep your audience entertained.
I get mesmerized watching celebs on Instagram. Of all the social media networks, this is the one that celebrities seem to embrace the most…and we can learn a lot from watching them.
One person I love to watch is Dwayne Johnson. He shares something very important. His life. People adore him, and he leaves nothing out, posting at least 4-8 times per day clocking his every move throughout the day on Instagram. This is one of my favorites that he has done.
“Yeah I’m pullin’ a plane while some big bald man keeps photo bombing my shot..” When beautiful little 2yr old Kai visits our set and she wants to “pull the airplane” all by herself. Well, she gets to pull the airplane… all by herself. #GreatJobHoney #AmazingStrengthYouHave #UncleRockPullsAHamstring #OnSet #AwesomeMemories #CentralIntelligence
You should also take notice that Dwayne also does a ton of video on his profile. This can prove a lot to the power of how video can make us appear more personal to our fans.
Engage Like Crazy
What makes a successful social media account successful is how much time and engagement you spend on it.
People remember things and it’s important to stay visible by consistently posting and having conversation on your’s and others posts.
From what I have found, Instagram is more of a laid back platform, and while there is no way to put a link anywhere in your stream, it is a powerful social platform to drive traffic from because even though there may not be a link anywhere except your profile, the people that do follow your link are committed to the cause and usually convert.
Take some time to stay engaging and personal by sharing things from your life. I think this is the best place to share what’s important to you, and to appear more personal to your peers.
