There’s nothing like a whisper.
As a boy, I always knew when my mom was about to have a pow-wow with me when the whisper came. That meant she did the powin’ and I did the wowin’.
There’s something about the whisper that makes people sit up and take notice.
Anyone can be loud.
However it takes self control to whisper when your industry is screaming.
I want to show you how you can take a whisper of a marketing strategy and turn it into one of the loudest things your industry has ever heard.
It’s called relationship marketing and it has been known to skyrocket professions and become dream builders for some people.
The reason you don’t hear a lot of people talking about relationship marketing is because no one wants to take the time for it. They want to eat their cake now and they won’t wait!I am willing to invest my time in building these relationships with people in my industry!Click To Tweet
So, if you’re willing to put in a little time, I’ll show you how well you can do.
Where Do I Find Relationships?
You can talk to just about anyone in your industry and you can tell the excitement they have when a person of influence has spoken to them, or better yet, shared something from their site.
Granted, it’s a great feeling when you see that happen, but sometimes this hampers the ability for you to build relationships in your niche.
We all want to be best friends with those influencers, but the truth be told, not all of us are going to get that in our business. Even worse, some people will quit because they cannot gain the attention or friendship of that person of position.
Not all relationship marketing procedures are the right one’s. There are some things you should avoid when building relationships.
Don’t start out, or continue, your marketing by constantly trying to befriend the influencer. What some people don’t recognize is that while the acknowledgment is great, these people aren’t your target. (Meaning you’re not going to sell to them most of the time).
It’s the regular everyday blogger in your niche that is going to help your site and brand gain control of the position you need to be in. That is why you should consistently be flirting around in areas where these people congregate in.
Again, don’t get me wrong about the influencers. Building a relationship with an influencer is great, but they probably won’t click the buy button. Here are some reasons why it’s better to find the regular people like you rather than search all day for influencers:
- More engagement and conversation means faster trust building.
- Collaboration and building of allies faster on social media.
- You’re stronger with a gaggle of Google Plussers than with one influencer.
The list goes on…
Some of the best people that have pushed me to where I’m at are powerful people in the market. I am merely implying that you shouldn’t focus all of your time in this aspect of the relationship building process.
You will have more success by grabbing a conversation with someone that is around your level easier. This is the best way to go about building your niche because of the help that you can give each other. When you find someone that is available to you, follow them on every platform and put them where you can see and help when they need you.
Putting in the Time
Now that you have found these people, it’s time to invest! This is up to you in how much time you want to spend in building the relationship. Remember, the more time spent, the more available they are going to be for you when you need it.
Also, it’s not just about spicing them up to do you favors, but about you extending your hand for them in the beginning. Show them they can trust you. Trust can come in many different forms, but the easiest and most used form to build trust is through the use of consistency on social media.Consistency is the most used trust building exercise.Click To Tweet
Be consistent in getting to know these people and learning what you can do for them. This is going to solidify that help you need later when you feel like no one is listening. It’s ok though, because by investing time in building these relationships, you will learn the true power that the whisper has.
The Power of the Relationship Whisper
One of the main problems that most new bloggers find standing in their way is that there is so many people congesting their industry with the same content over and over. This brings in the idea that if you’re not shouting your wares to the niche then you’re not being heard.
But with a smart relationship marketing plan you don’t have to shout to amplify your content or ideas at all.
The idea is to grab a small, yet strong group of people that have the same goals and determination as you do and link your arms together and start toward your goals.
This isn’t a solo race.
This isn’t a competition either. It is a collaboration of sorts where you bind together to help each other for the greater good.
The whisper in this type of relationship is powerful because when you have a group like this created all you have to do is say it once and it thunders across the social web in a flash.
You see, when you take the time to build a solid foundation of relationships with your peers you can ask for favors and help. If they have invested the same amount of time and energy in the relationship as you have, they won’t mind helping because they know when the time comes for them to hold out their hand, you’ll be there to grab it.
Creating the Thunder
Once your relationship bonds have been built and you have invested the time it takes to make them strong, then you will start to see the results of the thunder clap that can happen when you take advantage of the benefits.
The thunder happens because you have built the clouds. The thunder is a result of the showers of the blessings of true friendship online. When you create an article or project, all you have to do is whisper to those people with whom you have built a relationship with and the boom will follow.
The whisper isn’t as irrelevant to your business as you might think.
Here comes the boom.
